The HI-303N-2 heavy-duty magnetic stirrer, manufactured by Hanna Instruments, has an LCD tachometer and can stir up to 2.5 L. The HI-303N-2 allows precise stirring repeatability by using two separate speed ranges. This assures maximum repeatability in experiments and processing for laboratory as well as production use. In addition to the tachometer and speed control, a limiter will assure that the maximum speed of 1000 rpm is never exceeded (Speedsafe).

Often, a sample is removed from the stirrer before the speed has been reduced. This can occasionally cause the motor to accelerate until it destroys itself. Hanna stirrers incorporate a VCO device that will stop the motor from accelerating as soon as the load is removed.

In addition to these features, the HI 313N by Hanna Instruments also has an automatic feedback feature. The motor is electronically controlled to maintain the chosen speed even as the load changes. If the viscosity or level (fluid weight) increases or decreases, the circuitry will adjust the output power.
