SCF 4 Crucible Furnace |
The following furnaces are designed specifically for the smelting of precious metals Construction: The crucible furnaces are fabricated from rolled steel section, panelled with zinc coated steel sheet and finished with a hard wearing stoved epoxy polyester powder coating. Heating elements: Silicon carbide heating elements are mounted horizontally behind the tiles which are situated around the work chamber. Insulation: Low thermal mass ceramic fibre material ensures low energy loss and insulating bricks below the hearth provide good load bearing capacity. Work chambers: The two chambers are constructed from cast refractory slabs and on the SCF4 and SCF8 models have the appropriate number of apertures cut to hold the cricibles in position. For the SCF24 and SCF48 models, the chamber sizes are the same but there are no apertures, allowing the customer to select the crucible size and quantity to load into the furnace. The chamber is ventilated by a 50mm flue fitted in each hinged lid which pivots on parallel links, keeping the hot face away from the operator. Controls: The furnace temperature is regulated by a three term microprocessor based controller with a back up temperature controller to protect the elements. A 24 hour, 7 day time switch is also fitted as standard to enable the furnace to be switched on automatically ready for operation at the start of the day. all controls are housed in a separate control box, measuring 600 x 600 x 600mm. |
